Clay Pots without a Wheel
Create functional pottery without using a potter’s wheel in this beginning clay class. Learn traditional handbuilding techniques of coiling, slabs, and pinching to make cups, bowls, vases, and more. Class time includes project demonstrations and slide presentations for inspiration. Students have plenty of time to practice techniques and receive individual attention. We explore basic decorating and glazing methods to enhance your pottery. Project ideas are available in class – or bring your own. Clay and basic tool kits are available for purchase from the Art Center. Seven classes.

Basic Clay Sculpture
Express yourself with clay! In this beginning sculpture class, have fun as we learn handbuilding techniques and how to use simple molds to create fun and expressive sculpture. Make stamps and explore other decorating techniques and basic glazing methods to add the finishing touch to your sculpture. Slide presentations provide inspiration. Bring your own sculpture ideas or try the projects available in class. Clay and basic tool kits are available for purchase from the art center. Seven classes.
Monday evenings:

Wall Flowers
To show off some special blooms this season, create a container for fresh or dried flowers that hangs on a wall. In this one-session workshop, students learn basic handbuilding methods to create the container using stoneware clay and then decorate it with underglazes. After the projects are fired, they are ready to pick up the following week. Clay, glazes, and firing costs are included in the class fee.
